I’m into this one. Phoenix doesn’t need another loud concept pretending to be a moment; it needs chefs who already know what they’re doing, then give us something with a little more soul. That’s why Vivid “Gabby” Chu opening Homme Thai Supper Club feels like good news.

Chu is the executive chef behind LeDu Thai, and she’s set to debut the new fine-casual spot in Phoenix on Thursday. That alone tells me this isn’t a random swing — it’s a next chapter from someone who already won over diners with her first Phoenix restaurant.

What I like most is the direction. LeDu came in bold, with southern Thai dishes and a dining room that leaned vibrant and high-energy. Homme Thai Supper Club sounds like a different mood: still Thai, still chef-driven, but with a more homey edge. That matters. The Valley has plenty of places that can impress you for one night. Fewer make you want to settle in.

Chu’s first restaurant opened off Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix in July 2024, and it was already getting attention as one of the city’s best new spots. So yes, I’m watching this closely. When a chef has that kind of momentum and chooses to build something more intimate, I pay attention.
