According to KTAR, the Phoenix hospital was named the No. 1 hospital in Arizona for a 14th straight year by U.S. News & World Report. KTAR also reports that Mayo made the publication’s national Honor Roll of the top 20 hospitals nationwide for a 10th consecutive year, landing at No. 9 on that list.
That kind of repeat recognition says a lot about consistency. Rankings can come and go, but staying near the top year after year suggests a hospital system that keeps showing up for patients in a way that gets noticed beyond state lines. U.S. News said the hospitals were ranked based on quality, patient safety and experience, which is the kind of mix most people want to hear when they’re thinking about serious care.
Richard Gray, CEO of Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, told KTAR the recognition reflects the dedication, compassion and teamwork of the staff. He also said the clinic delivers integrated care that gives patients with serious and complex conditions confidence they are receiving the best care at the right time.
KTAR notes that the hospital draws patients from all over the nation and more than 70 countries each year. That’s part of what makes a ranking like this resonate locally: it’s not just about prestige, it’s about the role Phoenix plays as a destination for people looking for specialized care.
This year’s rankings also marked the first time Mayo Clinic had three different hospitals — Rochester, Florida and Arizona — on the nation’s top 20 list, according to KTAR. And no other hospital had more than one location in the top 20.
For Phoenix, it’s another reminder that one of the city’s best-known medical names continues to carry national weight.
