The Cardinals had one of those roster-update days that can change the feel of a camp in a hurry.
According to SI.com, Arizona officially placed second-round pick Chase Bisontis on injured reserve after he suffered a knee injury against the Las Vegas Raiders in preseason play. SI.com says the right guard is likely to miss most of the 2026 season, if not all. That’s a tough turn for a player the team had clearly been counting on, and it leaves the Cardinals sorting through depth at a spot that matters every snap.
Arizona also placed tight end Jameson Geers and linebacker Austin Keys on injured reserve, the team announced on Saturday, per SI.com. Those moves add to a list that already includes several players dealing with injury designations. SI.com notes that Tip Reiman, Garrett Williams and Josh Sweat remain on the Physically Unable to Perform list, while Joey Blount, Kenny Yeboah and Kaleb Proctor are on injured reserve.
To help fill the roster, the Cardinals signed three new players: tight end Baylor Cupp, defensive lineman Keveion’ta Spears and running back Tre Stewart, according to SI.com and the team’s press release. It’s the kind of transaction-day balancing act NFL teams know well — one side of the ledger gets heavier with injuries, and the other gets a little more crowded with fresh faces trying to make an impression.
SI.com also included background on Cupp, noting that he most recently played with the Dallas Renegades of the UFL, where he appeared in nine games and recorded eight receptions for 73 yards. The outlet added that he entered the NFL in 2024 with Kansas City as an undrafted rookie free agent from Texas Tech and appeared in one game with the Chiefs.
For Arizona, the immediate story is less about the names coming in than the ones going out. But in a long NFL season, these are the kinds of moves that can quietly shape what comes next.
