Michelin finally made its Arizona debut Wednesday night, and while no Valley, Tucson, or Flagstaff kitchen earned a star, the state still had a lot to celebrate, according to Mouth by Southwest. The ceremony at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas marked the first Michelin Guide Southwest, which now covers Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.
The big headline for Arizona was not stars, but recognition. Mouth by Southwest reports that seven Arizona restaurants earned Bib Gourmand status, Michelin’s nod for great food at a fair price, and 12 more landed on the guide’s Selected Restaurants list. Arizona also picked up one of Michelin’s new individual honors, with a Scottsdale chef taking home a brand-new award.
For local diners, that’s a meaningful first step. It puts a wider spotlight on the Valley and beyond, and it gives plenty of places to add to the must-try list. The Arizona Bib Gourmand winners named by Mouth by Southwest are FnB in Scottsdale; Huarachis Taqueria, Kid Sister, Little Miss BBQ, Lom Wong, Pizzeria Bianco, and Valentine in Phoenix. The Selected Restaurants list includes Atria in Flagstaff, Bacanora in Phoenix, Christopher’s in Phoenix, Fry Bread House in Phoenix, Glai Baan in Phoenix, Hush Public House in Scottsdale, Indibar in Paradise Valley, Latha in Phoenix, Pretty Penny in Phoenix, Reserve in Scottsdale, ShinBay in Scottsdale, and Tratto in Phoenix.
