I think this is the rare Halloween list that actually makes sense. Kids do not need a glossy travel guide for trick-or-treating; they need a neighborhood with a lot of houses close together and enough families to make the candy run worth the shoe leather. That’s the logic behind the Arizona neighborhoods that landed among 150 finalists for “Best place to trick-or-treat in America,” and it’s hard to argue with the math.
According to the data used in the ranking, one of the strongest Valley contenders is Power Ranch in the East Valley. The neighborhood has over 2,000 houses in an easily walkable area, and over half the houses in the neighborhood have kids. That is basically the Halloween version of a cheat code.
The broader list found over 70 neighborhoods scattered across the Phoenix metro area that fit the criteria, which tells you something simple: the Valley has plenty of places where Halloween still works the old-fashioned way, one front porch at a time.
If you want a place where the odds are stacked in favor of a full candy bucket, Power Ranch is not subtle about it. Neither is the data. And that’s the point.
