Chef Matt Carter and restaurateur Brian Raab are adding a new name to a partnership that’s already been part of the Valley dining conversation for more than 20 years. This fall, they’re opening Dash, an all-day restaurant in Scottsdale.
The timing matters here. Carter and Raab have spent the last 10 years without adding a new concept to their lineup, even as their trio of restaurants — Zinc Bistro, The Mission and Fat Ox — kept diners coming back. Now they’re shifting gears, and Dash is set to arrive in November.
The location is in Scottsdale’s McCormick Ranch area near Hayden and Mountain View roads, which gives the project a very local feel right away. Carter also says there’s a personal side to it, pointing to the spot’s proximity to where he lives. That kind of detail usually tells you a lot about how a restaurant is being imagined: not just as another opening, but as a place the people behind it actually want to spend time in.
Carter describes Dash as eclectic, and that fits the moment. All-day restaurants have a way of becoming neighborhood anchors when they work — the kind of place that can catch you for one meal and keep you around for another.
