I’m into this one. A new all-you-can-eat sushi and grill spot landing in West Phoenix feels like the kind of move that can actually stick, especially when it’s taking over a space people already know. That’s not flashy. It’s smart.
Sun Sushi and Grill All You Can Eat is preparing to open at 3301 W. Greenway Road, according to a pending restaurant liquor-license application filed with the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control. The filing says Junjin Li is the owner and manager through Sun Sushi LLC. That’s the kind of paperwork detail that usually tells you a place is getting serious about the finish line, even if the opening date itself still hasn’t been announced.
What I like here is the setup. The plans call for a 5,750-square-foot restaurant with a dining room, sushi bar, kitchen, waiting area, bar, liquor storage, and an outdoor patio. That’s a real full-service footprint, not some tiny pop-up trying to fake it till it makes it. And the application says there won’t be a drive-thru or walk-up window, which keeps the focus where it should be: on sitting down and eating.
The name tells you the broad idea — all-you-can-eat sushi and grilled dishes — but the filing doesn’t give a menu, prices, or operating hours. Fine by me. I’d rather see a place get the bones right first than rush out a half-baked pitch. Renovations are already underway, and the application lists October 20, 2026, as the estimated completion date. That gives the whole thing a little more shape, even if the actual opening is still TBD.
And honestly, the location matters. The address previously housed Top Shelf Mexican Food & Cantina, which means this isn’t some random blank slate. It’s a familiar West Phoenix spot getting a new chapter. That kind of reuse can be a win for the neighborhood when the next concept brings enough energy to make the corner feel active again.
So yeah, I’m calling this a good sign. Not because we know every detail yet — we don’t — but because the pieces that are public point to a place that’s being built with intention. West Phoenix could use more of that.
